Mobile Library Services operates two mobile library vehicles which bring library services, books and materials to more than eighty locations every week.
What is a Mobile Library?
- A Mobile Library is a library on wheels!
- Visitors may enter the bookmobile at any "stop" to borrow books, music CDs, audio books and videos.
- Mobile Libraries deliver all of the same library services as branch libraries.
Who is eligible for Mobile Library services?
- Residents of Miami-Dade County who reside within the library taxing district are eligible.
- Stops are scheduled at public parks, childcare facilities, condominium complexes, museums, senior centers and recreational facilities.
What is the Mobile Library schedule?
How does it work?
- Weekly stops at each of the scheduled locations are usually one hour in duration.
- Books and other materials may be borrowed using a Miami-Dade Public Library card.
- These materials may be returned to a Mobile Library or to any branch location in the system.
- Materials borrowed from branch libraries may also be returned to a Mobile Library.
- Books not currently aboard the bus may be requested, placed "on hold" and brought to the stop on a future visit.
- Most books may be borrowed for a period of 28 days.
- Videos may be borrowed for a period of 7 days.
